Stay On Your Own Lane

If a lane was perfectly created just for you,

With signposts of love and ‘best route’ guidance along the way,

Would you follow that lane?

Would you stay on that perfect lane? On your own lane?

If the lane was bumpy, difficult, hard, but had promises of love,

With scenic views along the way,

Would you stay on your own lane?

If your lane crossed with another, and the sign posts were for someone else,

Would you follow it?

Or stay on your own lane?

What would happen if you followed a lane that everyone else was following?

How congested would it be? Fumes, frustration road rage,

Folks unaware of the sign posts leading to their own lane,

Their own perfectly created lane.

If you were in this madness, a lane full of false hope, by accident or choice.

Would you look for your own lane?

The one where the signs flashed your name in big neons lights, no toll.

Would you place on your indicators and move into your own lane?

Would you worry about what the others think?

As they lifted an accusing finger.

“Its this way……. you f***er!”

“Better than us….F***er!”

“Look at the c***…weird as f**k!”

“Sweetheart, that’s the wrong way, its not right”:

“Hey! I went down that lane, didn’t get me far!”

Would you still change, to your own lane?

If everything seems to scream “WRONG WAY” even your own mind.

Would you still choose your own lane?

Yet, your own heart and a still small voice declares….

“This is the lane created perfectly created just for you,

With sign posts of love and ‘best route’ guidance along the way,

Follow it,

And stay on your own lane.”
